To everything there is a season, and a time to every pur-
pose under the heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
A Time To Be Born:
Deacon Nathaniel Big Boy Brewton, Sr. entered Gods beau-
tiful world on August 31, 1917 in Evans County, GA. He was the 8*
child bom of 13 children to the union of Ben Brewton and Lutena Sur-
rency.
A Time To Grow:
He was educated in the Evans County School System. At an
early age, he joined the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, under the leader-
ship of Rev. Underwood. Because of his faithful service to his church,
he was called to serve as a deacon. He was ordained by Rev. E.M. Solo-
mon, and he served faithfully as a deacon for more than 40 years. He
served as church treasurer for more than 25 years. He was known to be a
man of integrity and honesty. He will always be remembered as a
builder and cornerstone of Historic Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist
Church.
A Time To Love:
Nathaniel was joined in holy matrimony to Zeola Richardson on
November 17, 1941. This beautiful union lasted 58 years. To this union,
four children were bom.
A Time To Live:
Deacon Brewton was an humble, gentle giant of a man. He was
quiet, but when he spoke, he brought forth words of wisdom. He was a
prosperous farmer for many years. He later pursued a second career in
the Housekeeping Department at Evans Memorial Hospital, Claxton,
GA, where he worked for more than 25 years. He was a Gold Card 33
degree Master Mason of the St. Joseph Lodge #76.
A Time To Mourn:
The humble, mild-mannered spirit of Deacon Nathaniel Big
Boy Brewton, Sr. will be cherished and remembered by his children,
Mr. Wallace (Paulette) Brewton, Manassas, GA; Mr. Clarence Troy
(Jackie) Brewton, Miami, FLA; Mr. Nathaniel (Marva) Brewton, Jr.,

If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to Heaven
And bring you back again
No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why
Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No on will ever know
But know we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store
Since youll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
Is where youll always stay
