Obituary
On March 22,2006, our Savior saw that the road was
getting rough and the hills were hard to climb, So he gently
whispered Peace Be Thine and Sister Mamie McNeal
Stephens departed this life to be with our Heavenly Father.
Sister Mamie McNeal Stephens, daughter of the late Mr.
John McNeal and the late Mrs. Maggie M. McNeal, was born on
January 18,1902 in Evans, County, (Daisy) Georgia. Five
brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. She attended
Mt. Pleasant School. Sister Stephens loved the church and was
a member of St, Luke Baptist Church, where she was an Usher
in the early years.
She was married to the late Mr. John Stephens. She
was the mother of three children, Dea. Kizer McNeal, the late
Mrs. Carlyle Jones Burns, who was a devoted and loving daugh-
ter who cared for Sis, Stephens until her illness in the year 2000,
and the late Master Carson McNeal.
Sister Stephens was a homemaker and laundered cloth-
ing for various families in the community. All those who knew
her, had knowledge of her hard work, humble spirit, love, and
devotion to her family of five generations. She was involved in
hands-on rearing of all five generations. She loved her ex-
tended family, calling them by name.
Sister Stephens leaves to cherish her memory: a de-
voted son. Deacon Kizer McNeal of Valdosta, Georgia; devoted
grandchidren: Deaconess Etrenda C. (Clarence) Banks of
Lanham, Maryland, First Lady Brenda C. (Rev. Ulysses Mims)

Georgia, Mr. Willie (Ann) Williams of Savannah, Georgia, Mrs.
Elouise Woods of Miami, Florida, Deacon Jerry (Deaconess

Holland of Jacksonville, Florida; She was blessed to have one
sister. Mother Clara McCray of Daisy, Georgia; Blessings con-
tinue with a devoted niece, Mrs. Clara V. Brewton of Daisy,
