The Seasons Of Life
A TIME TO BE BORN. From the seed of Bobbitt, Graham
and Harris, Sylvia Faye Harris, the third daughter of the late
Mr. Arbertee and Mrs. Lily Mae Harris, was born on June 6,
1948, in Claxton, GA, of Evans County.
A TIME TO DIE. A courageous battle with lung cancer came
to an end early Tuesday morning on October 4, 2005, at 1:25
AM at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, MA.
A TIME TO PLANT. Sylvia Faye accepted Jesus as her
personal savior at the age of six. She joined The First African
Missionary Baptist Church in Claxton. She served as the
Sunday School .secretary and on the Usher Board.
After graduating from Evans County High School in June, 1966,
Sylvia moved to Boston, MA. In later years she became
employed with Polaroid Corporation and remained a dedicated
employee until she retired. She was a former member of the
Miriam Grand Chapter Order of the Ea.stern Star.
After realizing the need for a spiritual hou.sehold of faith, she
united with Timothy Baptist Church in Roxbury, MA, serving for
many years as Youth Director and van driver. She remained a
faithfid member until her health declined. Holding on to God's
unchanging hand, Sylvia joined Southern Baptist Church in
Roxbury and continued her spiritual walk with Jesus.
A TIME TO LOVE. Sylvia had a heart of gold and was
always giving and sharing to family and friends. She cared for
her family dearly and demonstrated her love by her fruitful
works. There wasn't anything that she wouldn't do to help
someone along the way.
Sylvia had no birth children, but cared for and provided
comfort to her nieces, Joy and Lynn, and also to her
cousin, Stephanie.
A TIME TO BE SAD. Sylvia leaves to cherish her
beautiful memories: a loving mother, Mrs. Lily Mae
Harris of Claxton; four sisters - Harvesteen Lorain
(Bradford) of Brookeville, MD; Arberdeen Gamble of
Philadelphia, PA; Patricia Milton (Charles) of Claxton,
GA; Eileen Rosado (Nestor) ofMattapan, MA; two aunts -
