Obituary
I saw thee at a glance when the day had just begun; I heard an
Angel call me, Servant of God, well done
A Time to be Born...Zonia McClennon Garrison was born March
31, 1920 in Daisy, GA to the late John McClennon and Amanda
Wilkerson McClennon.
A Time to Worship... She joined the Historic Mt. Pleasant
Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and also bonded with
the Jerusalem Baptist Church. She served as a faithful member and
a Nurse Aide for both until her health failed.
A Time To Love...She married the late Chester Garrison in 1946,
an earthly union of forty-eight years. To this union, two children
were born, Monica and Larry.
A Time to Embrace...Zonia was an extraordinary woman that
won the hearts of many by her radiant smile and sensational style.
She was Gods jewel that cared for life and people in a manner that
only an extraordinary person can. Her loving, giving, and caring
attitude always made her house a home to all who came.
A Time to Weep...She was preceded in death by her husband,
Chester; a twin sister, Zola; five other sisters. Oriole, Willie Mae,
Mamie V., Ada, and Edna Mae; three brothers, Beacher, Chester,
and Dollar Bill; and other relatives and friends.
A Time to Give Thanks... During her illness, Zonias normal
words were Everybody is just so nice and helpful, when referring
to her neighbors, the hospital staff, church members. Concerted
Services, Home Health Care Personnel, Rhonda Williamson, and
all others who took the time to call, visit, deliver a meal, medicine,
or a tidbit of gossip. All who knew her will remember that anytime
she was asked how she was doing, she would always reply, Im
still kicking.
A Time To Mourn...Zonia gave up her earthly Kicking with a
smile at 2:20 A.M. on September 18, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital in
Savannah, GA. The memories of her life will always be celebrated
and cherished by her devoted son, Larry Garrison (Rosalyn) of
Claxton, GA; a loving daughter, Monica Garrison Radney (John)
of Columbus, GA; a brother, Clyde McClennon of Plainfield, NJ;
a brother-in-law, Richard Benjamin of Savannah, GA; three
grandsons, Cornelius Garrison of Claxton, GA and Marcus and
Jeffery Radney of Columbus, GA ; a devoted caretaker, Dora
Roundtree of Claxton, GA ; and a host of caring nieces, nephews,
cousins, neighbors, friends, and the Historic Mt. Pleasant and
Jerusalem Baptist Church families.
Together Again
The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning that God
Was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our heart to lose you,
You did not go alone;
For part of us went with you.
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide;
And though we can not see you.
You are always at our side.
Ourfamily chain is broken.
And nothing seems the same;
But as God calls us one by one,
THE CHAIN will link again.

My Last Party
When you come to my last party
Dont come with faces long.
But come with memories that are pleasant,
In your heart let there be a song.
The places will be full of flowers
And I will be dressed grand.
The only thing I shall be sorry for
I will not be able to shake your hand.
When you come to my last party
My Lord will be your host
Because tis He mongst all my friends
Who really loves me most.
He bore my Cross at Calvary
He bears my cross today.
When you leave. He will still be with me
To comfort me on my way.
When you come to my last party
In spirit Ill be there,
And as you stare back at me through closed eyelids.
At you Ill stare.
And when you say that I look natural
That is as it should be
Because at my last party
Who should look more natural than me?
I did the best that I knew how;
Its up to God to take care of me now.
