Deacon James Boss Conyers was born in Greelyville, South
Carolina on July 4, 1901, to Mr. and Mrs. Gene and Mamie Conyers.
When he was very young, he moved with his family to Tattnall
County, Ga., after a two-year stay in Callahan, Florida. He resided in
the Cobbtown/Evergreen Community of Tattnall County for nearly
one hundred years.
In 1926, he was united in marriage to Norma Dean Brewton.
To this union, seven children were born. Norma Dean departed this
life on February 21, 1947. In 1949, he married Edna Mae Cobb.
They remained married until her passing on December 22, 1985.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Julius Conyers, in 1993.
At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.
He began his Christian walk as a member of Charlton Grove Baptist
Church in the early 1920s. He was a member of the deacon board for
seventy years and served as its chairman for fifty years. For sixty
years he was a faithful member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Association
and the Fifth Sunday Union Meeting. Deacon Conyers was a praying
man who loved his church and church affiliations, which he attended
regularly until his passing - Sunday, September 5, 2004.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: three sons: Sanford
Conyers of Savannah, GA; Alex James (Linda) Conyers of Augusta,
GA; and Harry (Shirley) Conyers of Paterson, NJ.; three daughters:
Edna Quaresma of Newark, NJ; Dorothy Campbell of Metter, GA
and Bernice Frazier of Cobbtown, GA; a daughter-in-law, Maggie
Conyers and a son-in-law, Willie Frazier, both of Hoboken, NJ;
twenty-five grandchildren and forty-nine great-grandchildren, ten
great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives
and friends.

A Charse To Keen I Have
A charge to keep I have,
A God to glorify;
A never dying soul to save,
And fit it for the sky;
To serve the present age.
My calling to fulfill,
0 may it all my powers engage
To do my Masters will.
Arm me with jealous care.
As in Thy sight to live;
And 0, Thy servant. Lord, prepare
A strict account to give.
Help me to watch and pray.
And on Thyself rely.
Assured, if I my trust betray,
I shall forever die.
We, the family of Deacon James Conyers, greatly appreciate each of you
for the many kind expressions of sympathy and acts of love extended to
us. We love you and may Gods richest blessings be with each of you.
