Where it has pleased Almighty God to take from labor to
reward our dear sister, Geraldine Blocker Bacon.
Geraldine departed this life June 1, 1999 in Atlanta,
Georgia. She was the daughter of Mr. Ervin Blocker and the
late Mrs. Lilia Mae Blocker. Geraldine was bom in Claxton,
Georgia on October 31, 1949. She joined St. John Missionary
Baptist Church as a young girl. Geraldine was reared and
educated in the Evans County School system.
Upon completion of high school, she married Ivory Bacon
and relocated to Cliffwood Beach, NJ. To this union three sons
were bom. Ivory Jr., Barry and Dwayne. The family later
moved to Decatur, Georgia. Geraldine became a member of
Victory Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Throughout her life, Geraldine was a devoted wife and
mother to her husband and children. She was a friend to many
and always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. She was
an ambitious woman with promising plans and dreams.
She leaves to cherish her memory; a loving and devoted
husband, Mr. Ivory Bacon of Decatur, GA; three loving and
dedicated sons. Ivory Bacon, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; Barry
Bacon and Dwayne Bacon of Decatur, GA; her father, Mr.
Ervin Blocker of Claxton, GA; a brother, Mr. Gadis Douse of
Philadelphia, PA; six sisters, Mrs. Betty Douse Coleman of
Claxton, GA, Mrs. Lutitia Douse Woody of Philadelphia, PA,
Mrs. Delores Douse Davis of Claxton, GA, Mrs. Earlean
Blocker Mincey of Miami, FL, Mrs. Mildred Blocker Stanley of
Miami, FL and Mrs. Jacqueline Blocker Palmer of Claxton,
GA; six grandchildren, Anthony, Chevonne, Andre, Gabrielle,
Cydney and Makaya; daughters-in-law, Michelle, Shemice and
Joan; sisters-in-law, Leatha Dortch, Bessie Bacon, Doris
Bacon, Maggie Bacon, Jackie Bacon, Freddie M. Bacon and
Renee Bacon; brothers-in-law, Julius Bacon, Dewitt Bacon,
Aubrey Bacon, Artie Stanley and a host of aunts, uncles,
cousins and other relatives.
