Mrs. Katie Mae Denson Porter
August 7,1928 October 14,1998
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there
shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there
be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Revelation 21:4
Mrs. Katie Mae Denson was born in Evans County, Georgia on
August 7, 1928 to Mrs. Clara Middleton Denson. She departed this life
October 14, 1998 at her residence after an extended illness. Early in
life she was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Paul Smith, Sr. To this
union two children were born. She later married Mr. Edgar Porter.
She was a member of First African Baptist Church where she served as
an usher, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Department Director,
Pastors Aide Club member and sang in the Senior Choir. She also
served faithfully as a Deaconess until her health declined. She was also
a member of Sweet Evening Breeze, Order of Eastern Star #269 and
the Evans County NAACP.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Mr. Edgar Porter of
Claxton, GA; a daughter, Ms. Clara Mae Smith of Claxton, GA; a son,
Mr. Paul Smith, Jr. of Claxton, GA; an adopted daughter (Niece), Mrs.
Irene P. Murphy of Reidsville, GA; a step-father, Mr. Erving Blocker
of Claxton, GA; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Gillie M. Coppock, Mrs.
Elease Porter and Mrs. Herbert Porter; four brothers-in-law, Mr. Willie
Porter, Mr. Joe Porter, Mr. Isiah Porter and Mr. Herbert Porter; nine
grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of cousins.
Remind me. Lord, to take a break
And spend some time in prayer.
For youre the best friend I shall know.
And always, ever, there.
