Loving Memories of St Robbie Mae Collins
ROBBIE MAE COLLINS was born June 28, 1917 to Ms. Bertha Mae Howard
and Mr. Alonso Johnson of Thompson, Georgia (McDuffie County). Robbie lost
her mother at the young age of ten. She was then raised by her aunt.
As a child, Robbie was outgoing and energetic. She would often tell accounts of
her childhood that would entertain for hours.
Robbie joined the United House of Prayer for All People early in her life. She
remained a dedicated and faithful member who served in many capacities.
Robbie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Eddie Collins and to this union
five children were born. She was both a loving and supportive wife and mother.
Robbie enjoyed her life in Claxton; she was diligent and virtuous in all that she did.
Many of her fondest memories are those from the United House of Prayer. She
served as General Secretary in Claxton for 31 years, resigning only when her health
deteriorated. In recognition of her dedication and service, Robbie was presented
with a plaque of appreciation by Bishop S.C. Daddy Madison in 1994 at the
annual Announcement service held in Washington, D.C. Robbie was well-known
throughout the United House of Prayer. Her loving words and actions earned her
the title of Saint-a title which was well-deserved and befitting.
On January 21, 1998, after a long incapacitation, God summoned his laborer to
come and receive her reward.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Robbie Annette Brown of Claxton,
GA; two sons, Jimmy Lee Collins of Portsmouth, VA and Willie James Collins of
Jersey City, NJ; one nephew, Daniel Johnson of Collins, GA; 13 grandchildren
Roslyn Lowe of Decatur, GA; Katha Collins of Edison, NJ; Gregory Collins of Las
Vegas, NV; Chandra Robinson of Stone Mountain, GA; Linnex Hines of
Statesboro, GA; YaLonda (Nicky) Brown of Woodbridge, NJ; Jimmy Collins, Jr.
of Portsmouth, VA; Sheronda Collins and Eddie Lamont Collins both of Rahway,
NJ; Laconda Collins of Eort Bragg, NC; Travis Collins, Marcus Collins, and
Stephanie Collins all of Portsmouth, VA; 10 great grandchildren; two dear cousins,
Berta Mae Crawford of Augusta, GA and Mae Helen Sherwood of West Palm
Beach, EL; loving son- and daughters-in-law; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Thomas Collins and Eddie B. Collins, Jr.
