Obituary
Mr. Walter A. Baker, a leading citizen in
Manassas, Georgia, died Thursday night, June 5,
1997at Memorial Hospital in Sa vannah, Georgia.
The community, family and friends have lost a
pioneer. Walter was a quiet pioneer who was
totally dedicated to excellence in helping and
caring for everyone.
Walters love affair with people started years
ago in Daisy, Georgia, where he was the second
born to Randoll Baker and Sudie Holland Baker.
His parents stressed the value of education and
working to provide your own living.
Walter became an active member of
Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of
Pastor W. W. Whitehead. He loved nature and
would walk for miles over the farm daily. He was
always there for everyone.
He is survived by one sister, Beautine Baker
Burns (Rev. Tellis Cornelius, Sr.) of Bolingbrook,
Illinois. Two brothers, Henry Ward Beacher Baker
and Me Kinzie Baker (Ruby Dell) both of Claxton,
Georgia and four sister-in-laws, Nita Bell and
Mamie of Claxton, Georgia, Roberta of Chicago,
Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
