Obituary
Mrs. Laura C. McKever was born on May 25, 1922 to the
late Mr. Robert (Bob) Small and the late Mrs. Louise Wright
in Tattnall County. She departed this life March 14, 1995 at
her home after a short illness.
She was a member of Green Cypress Baptist Church. She
was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Louis
McKever who preceded her in death. To this union, eight
children were born. Three preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory four daughters,
Mrs. Lula Mae McKever, Mrs. Pearl Brown, Mrs. Pauline
Palmer, and Miss Shirley McKever, all of Claxton, Ga.; two
sons, Mr. Franklin McKever and Mr. Larry McKever, and
one daughter-in-law, Francis McKever, all of Claxton, Ga.;
eight sisters, Sarah Moore and Viola McKever, both of
Claxton, Edna Mae Crawford and Cora Lee Hagan, both of
Hagan, Ga., Helen Harden of California, Mrs. Ella Mae
Oglesbee of White Plains, N.J., Mildred Williams of
Savannah, Ga., and Melvie Small of Miami, Fla.; one brother,
Mr. Lee Wright of Varnesville, S.C.; one close cousin. Rev.
Lucious Davis of Chicago, III; five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary
Wright of Varnesville, S.C., Mrs. Juanita McKever, Mrs.
Maggie McKever, and Tholia Benjamin, all of Claxton, Ga.,
Leaila Allen of Collins, Ga.; one brother-in-law, Thaddaeus
Hagan of Claxton; one aunt, Mrs. Christine Hunts of
Claxton, Ga.; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one
grandson-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
