A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we ioved is stiil
A spot is vacant in our hearts
That never can be fiiied

Sister Bessie L. Baker was born on November 13, 1913 to the
iate Mr. Emmit and Mrs. Annie Levant in Liberty County, Georgia. She
departed this life Wednesday, November 4,1992 at Statesboro Nur-
sing Home after a iong iiiness.
She received her education in the schoois of Liberty County. At
an eariy age she confessed Jesus Christ and was Baptized at
Jerusaiem Baptist Church under pastorage of Rev. N. C. Conner.
She served faithfuiiy as a member and deaconess untii her heaith
faiied her.
She was joined in Hoiy Matrimony to Ezekiei Baker in 1937. To
this union seven chiidren were born. Three children preceded her in
death.
Bessie was a good wife and mother. She was a quiet, friendiy
person with ali her acquaintances.
She ieaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, Dea.
Ezekiel Baker, Claxton, Ga.; one daughter, Mrs. Lollie B. Byrd,
Hanover, Md.; three sons, Mr. Charlie Baker, Jr., Capitol Height, Md.,
Mr. Larry Baker, Washington, D. C., Mr. Albert Lee Baker, Claxton,
Ga.; three brothers, Alexander Levant, Clinton Levant, Fletcher Le-
vant, all of Claxton, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Albertha Young, Claxton,
Ga., Rosa L. Love, Cincinnati, Ohio; one son-in-law, Frank Byrd,
Hanover, Md.; three daughters-in-law, Freddie Baker, Inez Baker and
Evelyn Baker, Washington, D. C.; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Levant,
Thelma Levant, Julia Levant, Miley Mae Slater, Nina Baker and Juanita
Shipman; four brothers-in-law, Robert Baker, Joe Hansel Baker,
Roscoe Baker, Bennie Shipman; six grandchildren, three-great-
grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and
friends.
She fought a good fight,
She kept the faith.
She endured the pain.
Now she has entered into her Masters Giory,
For He iay her down.
In peace to take her rest.
