Mr. Alphonso Lee Miller, Sr., was born in Bulloch County,
September 21, 1953 to Mrs. Dorothy and Mr. Sinclair Miller, Jr.,
both of Claxton, Georgia.
Alphonso was joined in Holy Matrimony to Norma Dean Slater,
to this union they had five children. He lived most of his life in
Evans County and then he moved to Florida in 1984, and served as
a devoted member at the Church of God, until he became ill and
returned home. Alphonso departed this life January 25, 1990 at
Memorial Hospital, Savannah, Georgia, after a short illness.
Those who will cherish his memory are his wife, Mrs. Norma
Dean Miller, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; one son Alphonso Lee
Miller, Jr., Claxton, Georgia; four daughters, Chandra Slater,
Claxton, Georgia, Tracy D. Ponder, Contina O. Miller, Mayonka
Y. Miller, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; his devoted parents, Mrs.
Dorothy and Mr. Sinclair Miller, Jr., Claxton, Georgia; one
brother. Senior Master Sergeant Daniel Miller, Albuquerque, New
Mexico; four sisters, Ms. Shirley A. Miller, Mrs. Elizabeth Murray,
Claxton, Georgia, Mrs. Cynthia (Miller) Hagan, Savannah,
Georgia, Mrs. Lola Stewart, Virginia Beach, Virginia;
grandmother, Mrs. Shellie Miller, Claxton, Georgia; mother-in-law
Mrs. Redetha Riggins, Claxton, Georgia; one son-in-law, Mr. Rex
Ponder, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Sonia
Miller, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ms. Henrietta White, Ms.
Loretta Slater, Claxton, Georgia; brothers-in-law, Mr. Michael
Murray, Mr. Harmon Slater, Claxton, Georgia, Mr. Pearlie
Stewart, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mr. Lavon Hagan, Charleston,
S.Carolina, Mr. Glendell Slater, Macon, Georgia; five
grandchildren; his aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Hall, Mr.
and Mrs. Wilton Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie and Betty Palmer,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hamilton, Ms.
Myrtle Golden, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Palmer, Mr. Wilbert
Kennedy; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and
friends.
We would like to acknowledge devoted friends of the family,
