]Ve will love you always. It is sweet to know love
like ours is steadfast as the seasons go. Time
cannot come between us. Distance cannot part.
We love you always because you are in our hearts.
A native of Chatham County, he was reared in
Evans County. He was the son of the late Maggie
and William Hayes. He was joined in holy
matrimony to Ms. Lou Audrey Stafford of
Claxton. To this union God blessed them with six
children. He was also preceded in death by a son,
William Curtis Hayes, II.
After completing his early education from
Evans County Training School in 1948, he enlisted
in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean
Conflict. He was called by God into the Ministry.
He attended and completed his education at
Carver Bible College in Atlanta, Georgia, and
received a Bachelors degree in Biblical Education
in 1973.
After completing his training Rev. Hayes
remained self employed, and continued his
commitment to Gods calling by being very active
and faithful in his religious commitment. He
served as pastor of Community Baptist Church,
Atlanta, Georgia for eight years. He joined the St.
John Missionary Baptist Church, Claxton at an
early age. He united with Bethany Baptist Church,
Atlanta, where he served as Associate Pastor.
Upon returning to Claxton, after retirement. Rev.
Hayes reunited with his home church, St. John
Missionary Baptist Church where he remained
active and faithful. In a very short time after his
return he was once again serving God to the
fullest. He was Associate Pastor of First A.B.
Baptist Church, Claxton, and St. John Baptist
Church. He was elected Chairman of the Christian
Education Department, Co-Chairman of the
Centennial Committee, Director of the Youth
Department and a member of the Evans County
Ministerial Alliance; also active in the Tattnall
Missionary Baptist Association and NAACP.
He leaves to mourn a loving and devoted wife
Mrs. Lou Audrey Hayes of Qaxton, Georgia; five
loving daughters, Ms. Majorie A. Hayes, Mrs.
Linda L. White, Mrs. Willa C. Johnson, Ms. Lisa
A. Hayes all of Atlanta, Georgia and Mrs. Susan
E. Delaine of Germany; three Sisters, Mrs. Naomi
Lane and Mrs. Alma Toomer of Claxton, Georgia
and Mrs. Agnes M. Warren of New York; four
Brothers-in-law, three Sons-in-law, six Sisters-in-
law, fourteen Grandchildren, several Nieces,
Nephews, other Relatives and Friends.
