OBITUARY
Christianity does not exempt one from death, it only
insures triumph over death.
On the morning of Oct. 5, 1984, the angels of silence
came with chilly fingers and sealed the lips of a loving
mother.
Her soul winged its flight from this world of sin and pain
to a place of eternal rest.
Mrs. Sarah (Colman) Porter, the daughter of the late
Andrew and Cornelia Colman, was born December 25, 1903
in Evans County, and departed this life Friday morning, Oct.
5, after a long illness at Evans Memorial Hospital.
She joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at an early age.
She later joined in holy matrimony to the late Grant
Mack in 1923, to this union one child was born. After his
death she joined in holy matrimony to the late George Porter
in 1950.
She leaves to mourn one loving son, Mr. Joseph Mack,
Claxton, Ga.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Janice Jones, Dallas,
Tex.; two grandsons, Mr. Jimmy Mack, Dallas, Tex., and
Mr. Gary Mack, Cleveland, Ohio. Nine great-grands. Five in
Ohio, three in Texas and one in Claxton. One
daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Mack, Claxton, Ga., and one
grand-son-in-law, Mr. Leroy Jones. Two-God-daughters,
Mrs. Stella Brewton and Mrs. Suela Harper both of Claxton,
Ga. And a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and

Aii foods wiii be served in Church kitchen.
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we ioved is stiiled
A spot is vacant in our hearts
That never can be filied.
Take her in Thine arms, dear Lord
And never let her be
A messenger of love
Between our hearts and Thee.
Lifes race weii run
Lifes work wei! done
Lifes crown weii won
And now she rests.
The family of the late Sarah Porter wishes to express
sincere appreciation to its many friends and reiatives for
every act of kindness and expression of sympathy extended to
them in this time of sorrow. May God biess each of you in our
