OBITUARY
Mr. Willie (Brother) Byrd was born to the late Mr. Willie
McCollum and Mrs. ElJen Byrd Jacobs May, 1922, in Bulloch
County, Georgia. In his early life, he united himself with the
Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late
Rev. E. M. Solomon. He was married to the late Mrs. Della
Lee Timmons Byrd. To this union, 2 children were born. He
lived most of his life in Evans County.
He leaves to mourn 3 sons, Michael Byrd, Claxton,
Georgia, and Carlton Jones, U.S.A.F., England; 3daughters.
Miss Jannis Sharp, Jacksonville, Fla.; his mother, Mrs. Ellen
Byrd Jacobs, Claxton, Georgia: 5 sisters, Mrs. Ruby Mae
Moody and Mrs. Eunice Quarterman, Claxton, Georgia, Mrs.
Willie Pearl Tanner and Mrs. Stella Mae Williams, Register,
Georgia, Miss Dorothy McCollum, Chicago, Illinois; 5
brothers, Willis Byrd, Pembroke, Georgia; B. C. McCollum
and Jimmie McCollum, Metter, Georgia; Willie Lee
McCollum, Rochester, N.Y., and Earenst McCollum, Detroit,
Michigan: 3 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary Lee Byrd and Mrs. Ida
McClennon of Claxton, Georgia, Mrs. Barney Byrd,
Pembroke, Georgia; 3 brothers-in-law, Mr. Sylvester
Timmons, Mr. David Hampton, Claxton, Georgia, Mr. Danny
Jones, Savannah, Georgia: 2 grandchildren, 2 uncles, 2
aunts, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and
friends.
