OBITUARY
Miss Barbara Joe Newton was the third child born of Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Bacon of Claxton, Ga., on February 1,1947 in
Evans County, Ga., where she resided throughout her life
span. She joined Green Cypress Baptist Church at an early
age. She was later married to James Newton.
She is survived by one daughter, Coretha Newton; three
sons, James Newton, Jr., Carl Von Newton and Derrick V.
Newton, all of Claxton; her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Bacon of Claxton; a dear companion, Hilbert Stanley of
Claxton; nine sisters, Dorothy S. Williams, Mary N. Love,
Gwendolyn M. Love, Jo Ann Bacon, Bernedy D. Moore of
Claxton, Ga., Mrs. Thelma Littles of Redgewood, N. J., Sadie
Ruth Graves of San, Ga., Judy A. Bacon of Ft. Lauderdale,
Fla.; two brothers, Johnny L. Bacon of Register and James E.
Bacon of Claxton; five brothers-in-law, James Love, Jr.,
Raymond Williams, Ulysess Graves, Wadie Moore, Jr.,
David Walker; one sister-in-law, Viola L. Bacon; maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Mary J. Denmark; maternal grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moses Badger; and a host of aunts,
uncles, neices, and nephews and many sympathizing friends.
Sunset and evening star
And one clear call for me.
May there be no mourning at the bar
When I put out to sea.
