OBITUARY
Lifes race is run,
Lifes work is done,
And now he rests.
Deacon Alton L. Holmes was born in Evans
County, Georgia, March 25, 1945. He is the son
of Mrs. Hattie Holmes and the late Mr. Buddy
Holmes. He was an active member of New Bethel
Baptist Church, where he worked with Youth
Department and later was ordained as Deacon of
this Church. He was Secretary of the Board of
Trustees, and a Member of the Sons of Glennville
Lodge No. 258.
He was married to Sis. Gwendolyn Jackson
Holmes and to this union 2 children were born.
Saturday night. May 3, 1975, he entered into
eternal rest.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Gwendolyn
Holmes; a son, Kevin Holmes, and his mother,
Mrs. Hattie Holmes, all of Manassas, Ga.; a mo-
ther-in-law, Miss Doris Jackson of Collins, Ga.;
a father-in-law, Mr. J. L. Williams of Manassas,
Ga.; 2 aunts, Mrs. Pearlie Hall of Collins, Ga.,
Mrs. Vernita Richardson of Reidsville, Ga.; 2 un-
cles, Mr. Buster Smith of Brunswick, Ga., Mr.
Bill Smith of Collins, Ga.; a host of relatives and
friends.
Help me to watch and pray.
And on thyself rely,
By faith assured, I will obey.
For I shall never die.
