My dear Husband
I wrote you last mail, but owing to some neglect the letter did not go at the proper time. so I write you again. My health continues good. I feel stouter and better than I have for a long time. I believe my general health is better now than it has been since I've been married. Pa still improves. This morning he was out about the cribs, something he has not done for months. Brother Robert started for Jackson (Caney-fork), this morning. to see about land business, he will not start for the west untill [until] about Christmas. We have had some very cold and disagreeable weather, to-day [today] however, is quite pleasant -- & mild considering the season. I fear Mag will not get out next month. -- the weather will be so cold for her to bring her children. but I believe she

will come if she possibly can. but Jimm [document damaged: ie ] is so subject to croup. I sometime fear she cannot come. Pa seems to think it useless for me to send home for a girl, what do you think about it? I thought I would send some-one [someone] down with Pas Buggy in about a week or two, and let them come in that way, I will also send your mule home, as they are about done seeding, and will have no further need of him.
I presume they are all well at home, as I have heard nothing to the contrary. I wrote mother a short -- time since. I will write her again by Monday's mail. You ought to write home frequently, and keep them posted with regard to their work at home, Mother also is so uneasy when you are from home -- particularly when you are in Raleigh or Washington . as she imagines Washington to be at the fartherest [farthest] extremity of the Union. We heard from Josephine a short time since. she is about to decline coming -- up this winter. she thinks of coming in the Spring

Mr [illegible text] is coming over at Christmas and will bring his North Carolina negroes with him. Pa wishes you and Sam to talk, to the Doctors about his case, and find out if there is any connection between taped liver and the stoppage and snuffles in his head, which he is so much troubled with. You will find in my letter written the
23rd something concerning Pa's note business which he wishes you to investigate, and talk to Mr Woodfin about [deleted text: it ], as Pa wishes them to act fair with him, without any difficulty about it. I hope you will use every effort to have your resolution passed, and let us get home once more settle up affairs, [deleted text: [illegible text] ] quiet down and attend to our home affairs. above all things try and arrange your affairs, so you can get out of debt, for untill [until] then you cannot get to remain at home, in quietness, for any length of time. I fear I annoy you, insisting on a thing I know you are exerting every nerve to accomplish, but I am so anxious, for I know you will not have any enjoyment, untill [until] you are freed from embarrassments. Take good care of your self [yourself], and I have

no fears, but what you will have enough means and energy to take care of me and mine, after all your warfares . I try to keep up good good [good] -- spirits -- and think all things will work -- right in time. If not in my time, maybe I will leave some one [someone] behind me, who will see and enjoy it. About twenty days from now, my troubles will be expecting to be coming -- on. I hope for the best, and leave the rest to Providence. I hope you will write to me often, write twice a week, and I will hear from [added text: you ] every mail, the mail comes to this -- place every monday and Thursday
The Try and have the business of the Legislative done with dispatch, so you can come home as soon as possible. It will be so cold Christmas, that I cannot think of you coming so far,, as much as I would like to see you. I will write and have you written to, often, and keep you posted with regard to my health &c &c [et cetera] . Write home and keep them in good heart in your absence, and let me hear from you every -- mail -- if possible. The family send regards to you and Sam
