The [added text: action of the ] secretary of War on the decision of cherokee claims is not yet obtained -- presume it will in a few days. yesterday I was called on by the Commissioner of IA [Indian Affairs] . to make the proper estimates in relation thereto. I have reason to believe the result will be favorable, I dem [deem] it best to stay until I get it in a safe situation. Ross has not been recived [received] but but [but] he may -- yet suceed [succeed] through some of his Delegation to get hold of some more of the Cherokee money. Lewis Ross is authorised [authorized] to recive [receive] it
