His Excellency John Milledge
Sir
on the reception of your appointment to us as Commissioners for Opening the road from Tennessee state through the Cherokee Nation (Colonel Early then being in the Creek Nation) we formd [formed] a Board on the
6th of July and Addressed a Letter to his Excellency John Sevier a Coppy [Copy] of which is hearwith [herewith] enclosed Together with [added text: a Copy ] of his answers dated Knoxville
19th JulyInt. [Instant] [document damaged] We propose seting [setting] out from Jackson County on the
10th of August next
The Advance of money spoken off [of] in your Communications to us of the
22nd of June will now be wanted --
We shall feel gratified if we are enabled to report the Completion of this road without the Expenditure of much Publick [Public] money. We shall report our proceedings to you from time to time and we
