12th February With the resolve of the Honl. [Honorable] The Genl. [General] Assembly therin [therein] inclosed, I had the honour [honor] to receive from Majr. [Major] Elholm.
There is at this place one of the principal Chiefs of the Choctaw Nation attended by some Chickasaw & Cherokees: they inform me they set out for Congress in Order to negociate [negotiate] national business. they are intended to delay Some time here in Order to See doctor White Superintendant [Superintendent] . of the Southern district.
This Chiefe [Chief] came by Way of the Creek Nation That he was there informed, that Nation intended Hostilities against the State of Georgia early this Spring. that they intended last Summer to have Given Georgia a [unclear text: home ] stroke, had not a small party Contrary to there [their] Councils. Committed Hostilities before the Main body of the Warriors was ready to go [deleted text: Come ] out. Which alarmed Georgia, who marched out

Against them, and pursued the [deleted text: Murder ] [added text: murderers ] in Such a spirited [added text: & rapid ] Maner [Manner], that it totally defeated and Counteracted the whole of there [their] intended operations. this piece of Gallant and brave Conduct. I am informed was Conducted by the brave Genl. [General] Clarke [added text: aided by the Executive ] who I consider Highly entitled to the thanks of the public for the great Service done their Country and the public in General on that Occasion.
I shall do my Self the Honor to Communicate to you everything of importance that may be of an interesting nature respecting the Creek indians, or any Others, that may intend Hostilities against the frontier of your State, So far as the Same may come within my knowledge
permit me Sir, to return you my Sincere thanks and through you, the other Gentleman of your State, for The great Honor done me on the
fifth day of February last.
