- This document dated March 28, 1836 contains three separate sworn statements pertaining to the militia claims of Williamson Rhew. In the first statement, Rhew attests to his service as a volunteer in Early County, Georgia under Captain William S. Wilson in December of 1835 in a campaign against the Creek Indians. His company of volunteers was raised under the order of Colonel Abednego McGinty, who signs the second statement in support of Rhew's claim. The third statement is Rhew's notice that he appoints Wilson as his agent to receive his pay. The first and third statements are sworn to by Brockman W. Henderson, Justice of the Peace.

Personally came before me Brockman W. Henderson, a Justice of the Peace. Williamson Rew, who being duly [document damaged: sworn ] deposeth and saith, that he served as a Volunteer against the Creek Indians from the
first to the
Sixth of December 1835 inclusive, and that during that period he was in the Company of Volunteers under Capt [Captain] William S. Wilson -- raised by order of Colo [Colonel] Abednego McGinty in the County of Early for the purpose of Repelling the incursions of said Indians
