The Staff under my command being desirous of taking their chances in the relief of our suffering friends in Florida as well as my [deleted text: own ] self [deleted text: [illegible text] ] -- we therefore tender to you & through you to the commander of the forces in Florida or Alabama my services & pledge myself & staff to be in readiness at any moment we may be called on to take command of any Regiment wanting a commander at any place designated in Florida or Creek nation in Alabama
