Petition [with] account, 1789 Dec. 2, to the House of Representatives of Georgia / John E. Smith

To the Honorable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives of the State of Georgia --
The Petition of John Erdman Smith Printer to the Said State
Respectfully Sheweth

That your Petitioner has inclosed [enclosed] his Account with the State for the present year in two Separate Statements -- one in paper medium, as the business charged for, being antecedent to the present arrangements, it may, perhaps, be conceived the proper [deleted text: mode ] mode of payment -- the other in Specie, in hopes that the Legislature will coincide therein, and no longer subject him to the inconveniencies [inconveniences] he has felt in past payments; the greater part of his last year's Account being paid him in the month of
August, when -- Medium could purchase no article vendable in the markets which he is obliged to resort to for Paper, &c. [et cetera] and caused him to labour [labor] under great difficulties to carry on his business. --
Your Petitioner hopes, that, among the appropriations by Law which are about to be made for the current year, he will not be left out; that he may have it in his power to do the business of the State with credit and dispatch; and your Petitioner will ever pray, &c [et cetera] .

[Signed] John E. Smith
