Sir
I have the honor to forward to your Excellency a correct detail of the present condition of our frounteer [frontier], which is as free from Indian depredations at this time as it ever has been Since the commencement of this Simanole war and the inhabitants as free from the apprehensions of Indian dangers. I Still remain in the performance of my duty by keeping up regular Scouts So as an Indian cannot make his apperance [appearance] into Georgia and return without being discovered. these operations assure the people of this vicinity that they can remain at their homes and attend to their ordinary business without the apprehension of a midnight attack by these red wariers [warriors] . I am well aware had it not been for the Small number of militia in Service under your order that the Indians would ravaged our frounteer [frontier] before this. and I am under [deleted text: ap ] the apprehension at the present that I will be able to keep this part of territory clear of Indians as long as it may meet your approbation to continue me in Service with the Small force under my command, with out an incre [added text: a ] sed number of men as I am [deleted text: well ] certain that the Indians is
