His Excellency

Sir,
Your communication of the 17th Instant has Just bin [been] received and I am happy to be informed that the company I lately had the Honer [Honor] to Command will shortly be paid
the Company Under my command was mustered out of Service on the 1st Instant. but [added text: not ] [deleted text: only ] so as to Include the whole time of Service
The Term I served Under Genls [Generals] Hilliard & Nelson was not. Included In the muster Rolls and whether or not. The General Government will pay for our first Term of Service [deleted text: or not ] I have not bin [been] able to learn you will Confer a special favor by Informing of me on this Subject ie The Term I served before I was mustered in to the United States Service
As Regards the Millatary [Military] force furnished by the United State for the protection of the Georgia Frontier One Company of Regulars are Stationd [Stationed] at Traders Hill and Some Small part of One at Fort Moniyac Some thirty miles South west of the former place they afford no protection what Ever the Citizens of this County. and but little to any part of Georgia the more Exposed parts of Georgia are intirely [entirely] vacant. as Genl [General] Nelson is well acquainted with this Section of Country I Refer you to him for Information he is well acquainted with Section of Country Exsposed [Exposed] to Indian depredations and of what protection Such a force at the above places Could be to the Country or citizens attacks are daily Exspected [Expected] by the Inhabitants [deleted text: near the line ] Murders have lately been committed near the line and as there is no military force near to prevent them. it is believed a small party are in the neighborhood of the Okefonokee Swamp and waiting a favorable opportunity for an attack. upon the helpless [unclear text: Familys [Families] ]
