His Excellency
William Schley Dear Sir
The arrangement for the summer campain [campaign] appears, be aranged [arranged] by the rival armies Scouts and reconoitering [reconnoitering] parties are on the alert -- I have employed myself in the recruiting Service- I have visited Liberty Bryan & Effingham & shall go to Emanuel next week to awaken old Col Swain and his followers (if thay [they] are Sleeping)
We in Bulloch are as usual [unclear text: Sound ] to the core- in Chatham [added text: the ] gentry [deleted text: [added text: the ] ] has been so much pampered I fear thay [they] will either abandon the chase or not run with their usual energy
I have a full knowledge of every thing in Bryan our prospect is a good one- the [unclear text: Nullies ] hold their meeting this day in Effingham we Shall soon be apprised of all their acts as we have Spies in the camp -- from the present distant view of affairs I think we have no reason to fear

and in the limited scope of my acquaintance I am certain we are as strong as we were two years since --
I have bargined [bargained] for No 195 23rd Sec for John D Pitto at $80. the lowest price I could get it at and if he will take it at that price you can inform me of the date of the grant and &c [et cetera] -- this is within the bounds of my instructions -- and when I send a title you can send the money -- I hope I shall be pardoned for imposing additional trouble on you I enclose ten Dollars to take two Land grants as follows --
