Sir
Your kind favor by Col Burney was delivered the day I arrived at home & I take a pleasure in communicating with you on every thing connected with the Cher [Cherokee] Nation in [deleted text: in ] which the people may be interested
I shall leave home in a day or two for the nation again where I shall probably not long remain unless an alteration takes place in the feelings of the Indians in regard to removal. I am quite willing to remain in the nation should it be attended with an adequate advantage to the state or Indians and not without I shall tho. [though] be governed by circumstances. Please communicate with me & command my service in any mater [matter] in this quarter
I would cheerfully comply with your request to furnish the list of emigrated places but the [unclear text: assessors ] will probobly [probably] [added text: be ] engaged some time yet in their duties who will keep a numberd [numbered] list of places quantities & Lo [deleted text: ca ] cation which will be returned to the office of Indian agency (viz) Maj Montgomery [illegible text] should they not make a return of any places till [until] they [added text: have ] completed the assessment I could furnish a list so far as they have gone should you deem it necessary for you to have it

should you have any occasion to address me direct to Scudders Cher [Cherokee] Nation My best wishes for an administration that the people of Geoa [Georgia] will approve

I am your excellency's ob servt &c [obedient servant et cetera]
