Sir-
Genl. [General] Floyd not having informed me whether he had forwarded to you a copy of the inclosed communication, I have now the honor of sending it for your information. By a letter received from Col. Hawkins, dated
21st feby [february], it appears that he was at the Confluence of the Flint & Chattahoche with seven hundred Indian Warriors, waiting for some mounted Militia promised by your Excellency. This Force will probably be sufficient for the protection of the frontier of your State, until it shall be ascertained whether the Indians will immediately cease hostilities; & I have to request the favor of you to impart to me the earliest information of any contrary indications, that the Regular Troops now not necessary for the defence of the sea coast may be immediately ordered westward. This measure would have been now adopted, but

that I have not received information whether or not the corps now on the sea coast of this District will be continued in service. --

I have the honor to be very respectfly. [respectfully] Sir Your Obdt. Servt. [Obedient Servant]
[Signed] Thomas Pinckney
His Excelly. [Excellency] The Governor of Georgia.
