- This document contains three letters. The first is a letter, dated March 12, 1802, from Harmon Courtez, Justice of the Peace in St. Marys, (Georgia ?), to Governor of Georgia Josiah Tattnall, Jr. (1801-1802), informing him that a number of Indians in the area near Colerain (Camden County, Ga.) are contemplating attacks on nearby Spanish settlements. Enclosed in Courtez's letter is a letter in Spanish on this subject from Enrique (Henry) White, Governor of East Florida, to the Magistrates at St. Marys, dated February 28, 1802. Also enclosed is a translation of White's letter. White explains that the recent clamor among inhabitants of the Spanish settlements is a result of the alleged intentions of Indians, living within the United States, to attack them. White refers to a Treaty of Amity, Limits and Navigation, between the U.S. and Spain, and requests that the U.S. take the appropriate measures to prevent such an attack.

The enclosed letter from the Governor of the province of East Florida was received yesterday which I have forwarded for your Inspection... --
I have also received information that there are about One hundred & fifty Indians in the neighbourhood [neighborhood] of Coleraine who are meditating an attack on some part of the Spanish Settlements... -- but have not as yet understood to what part of the Indian Nation they belong.

Gentlemen.
Having received information that there is in the Neighbourhood [Neighborhood] of Colerain a large number of Indians who intend makg. [making] an attack on this province and that the greatest part of them are from the territory under the Jurisdiction of the United States.
That they are also parties of the Same Indians or from the same Towns who have been before in this province and some of which were killed by the Inhabitants of Amelia Island. --
You will please to take the most effectual method which you may think proper to prevent the said Indians from forming in a body and that they may not commit any further depredations on the Subjects of my sovereign
