Washington City
April 19th 1806
Dr [Dear] Sir
I have the pleasure to inform your excellency that a Law making appropriations for carrying into Effect the Creek Treaty, has passed the two Houses of Congress.
We shall adjourn the day after tomorrow & I shall return as speedily as possible -- Mr Baldwin will probably come by Water from Baltimore -- He & myself are the only members now here from our State -- Mr Spalding left us a week ago, & Mr Bryan & Genl. [General] Meriweather some time since.

We have heard nothing very recently from Europe. The stall of our relations in that quarter, [deleted text: are ] [added text: is ] of course still unknown to us.
You will have perceived that our Session has been stormy . I hope however we shall adjourn in a calm.

I am very respectfully
Your Excellency's most
Obt. humb. Servt. [Obedient humble Servant]
[Signed] Peter Early [added text (appears to be different ink and hand): a Gov. [Governor] of Ga [Georgia] ] Govr. [Governor] Milledge
