Dear Sir,
When I wrote you the inclosed on Saturday morning I was informd [informed] that the post was at that moment [unclear text: seting ] off for the Westward -- but on [unclear text: sending ] my letters to the post Office, I found that I had been misinformd [misinformed] & that it did not depart till this morning. I yesterday paid Thomas King Esqr. [Esquire] Twenty five hundred dollars agreeably to your Excellencys direction, tho' [though] I had some difficulty to obtain it from Mr. Milledge who is the most extraordinary man I ever met with, a letter from him which I shall take occasion to lay before you will evince to you his eccentricity -- one part of it I cannot forbear relating at present his digest is to the
31d March last $30,000 & upwards -- his Bond twenty thousand -- he argued that he is not accountable to State for more than $20,000 the Amount of his bond & that the remaining Sum $10,000 must be

intended to remunerate his Services -- I shall now take my leave of this very Singular [unclear text: gentlemen ] & proceed to predecessors of his Mr. [unclear text: Laffitte ] I have calld [called] on Mr. Atterny [Attorney] Genl. [General] who has promised to investigate the transactions of Mr. Laffitte & his [illegible text] I make some Statement on the Subject -- & also to press for payment, but he avers that he has received no public papers from his predecessors in the department of attorney Genl. [General] Mr. Mitchell says that he has written your excellency on Several topics, but particularly on the Subject of the State Bonds for Reverted Confiscated property on which two installments are now due -- there are also other bonds which Mr. [unclear text: Noel ] did not bet on, That woud [would] be necessary for him to have --

it was intended Mr. Watt, should receive a commission on -- I have advertis'd [advertised] the goods for Sale in the papers, & have sent to Mr. Clarke over [unclear text: Ogeechie ] informing him of the intended Sale, haveing [having] nothing more at present to communicate, I conclude by assuring your Excelly: [Excellency] of my esteem & regard -- I am very obediently your Huml.
