October 3rd 1787 Davidson County No. [North] Carolina
[unclear text: Hond. [Honored] ] Sir /
A Letter from the Chicasaws to your Excellency having accidentally fallen into my hands I do myself the honour [honor] to inclose it --
We are informed that Georgia & So. [South] Carolina are about carrying on a Campaign against the Creeks which gives us much pleasure as we have suffered exceedingly by them this Summer upwards of 30 persons have been killed as many wounded our evacuated homes burned & our Stocks wantonly destroyed --
Should your Excellency in future conclude a [document damaged: peace ] with that Nation it would be much in our favor if you would include the Cumberland Country by inserting a clause that they should forbear to commit hostilities on us as we are too weak to do any thing of consequence against the Creeks tho' [though] we are now preparing with the assistance of Kentucky to subdue the [unclear text: Chiamagua's ]
Should your Excellency do us the favour [favor] above mention it will lay this Country under the most lasting Obligations

I am with respect Your Excellency's most Obt. Humb. Sert. [Obedient Humble Servant]
[Signed] James Robertson
