Inspector General's Office.
9th January 1786.
The within named James Durouzeaux, was appointed Linguist & Agent for the Creek Nation the
18th day of May 1785 as appears by a Commission given under the Authority of the then Governor & Council.

[Signed] Geo: [George] Handley Inspr. [Inspector] General

The Committee are of opinion that the charge of forty five pounds for attending the treaties at Galphinton & Oconee is improper it being part of his duty as interpreter, and that his honor the Governor draw an order on the Treasurer for the sum of forty eight pounds seventeen shillings and three pence being the balance that appears to be due, and that the same be charged to the Indian department.
