Board of Commissioners Augusta
Octr. [October] 7 1786
The Board having taken into their consideration the Communication from the Honorable the Executive of the 5th Instant, do give the following Opinions on the matters contained therein. to wit.
First. "For three months pay for fifteen hundred men and Officers." It is the Opinion of this Board, that no [added text: Special ] appropiation [appropriation] being made by the Assembly for the payment of the Militia and the uncertainty of their [there] being a suffeciencey [sufficiency] of money for that purpose make it necessary to defer that matter for the present.
Secondly "The daily pay of the Commissioners of Indian Affairs when required. -- " The Commissioners will defer soliciting payment for their Services at present.
Thirdly "Making provision for such Indians as shall adhere to the State in the event of hostilities. -- " The Board are of Opinion this Subject will be better understood

and considered after a Conference is had with the Indians & therefore recommend that it be postponed.
Fourthly. "The subject of declaring the State to be in a State of Alarm. -- " The late favorable accounts from the Indian Nation and other Circumstances induce the Board to recommend that the State be not now declared in a State of Alarm. --
