Dear sir
on the
30 of April I received your letter of the 26th on the subject of Spies to the Tallapoosa river, I have started two spies this day according to your [deleted text: wish ] orders- James Moore and James Taylor are the men Moore was my guide last winter to the Tallapoosa I enclose your Excellency a coppy [copy] of of of [of] their instructions -- if I had not got men who I could depend on I should have went myself -- your plan of discovery and the reasons why [added text: you wish ] it executed is excellent -- I have been at the point of death sinc [since] I saw you last but at this time I am doing very well-

I am authorised by His Excellency Governor Early to appoint you both [deleted text: as ] spies -- you will proceed in the most secret manner to the Tallapoosa river in the Creek Nation and examine the country from the Toocabachee old field down the river to the old Oakfusky town and ascertain in as secret a way as you can whither [whether] there is any hostile [added text: Indians ] in that neighbourhood [neighborhood] or not -- you will report to me on your return without delay
