- This is a land grant, which includes a survey report for a plot of land in Cherokee County, Georgia. The map that should accompany the survey report is missing from the top of the first page. This particular plot of land was granted to George W. Askew of Franklin County, Georgia on November 19, 1840. The land was obtained from the Cherokee and Creek Indians through unspecified treaties and was distributed under an act of the Georgia General Assembly passed on December 24, 1831. This plot of land was surveyed on July 23, 1832 and was granted to Askew under the authority of Governor Charles J. McDonald (Governor of Georgia, 1839-1843).
