Department of War.

18th. Octo. [October] 1820:
Sir,
Your letter of the 4th. instant, enclosing an estimate of the expenses of the Creek agency for the Quarter ending on the 18th: instant has been received.
I have directed the amount of the Estimate to be remitted to you. I am satisfied, from your statement relative to the Wages of the Blacksmith and Striker employed at the agency, that a reduction in that item is not necessary.

I have the honor to be, Your obedt. Servt. [obedient Servant]
[Signed] J. [John] C. Calhoun Genl. [General] D. [David] B. Mitchell, Creek agent.
