- This document is a copy of a 250 acre grant of land in Early County, Georgia, originally presented to Matthew Bentenbock on July 10, 1821 by Georgia Governor John Clark (1819-1823). The plot is a portion of area acquired from the Creek and Cherokee Nations. The land was ceded in several treaties with the Creeks and Cherokees, namely: the Treaty of Fort Jackson (August 9, 1814), the Treaty of Cherokee Agency (July 8, 1817), the Treaty of the Creek Agency (January 22, 1818), and the Treaty of Washington (February 27, 1819). This copy was prepared on September 21, 1835 by William A. Tennille, Georgia Secretary of State (1833-1843).
