private individuals are invited to reprint it without any re-

munertaiton to the author.

Haldeman, pastor of the First Baptist Church, New Ydrk City,

for some thoughts contained in this article, as they appear in his

masterly work, "Ten Sermons On the Second Coming."

AN ANSWER TO THE QUESTION
"What's the Matter With the World?"
"A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations, He will plead with all flesh; He will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the Lord. Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. And the slain of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground." Jeremiah 25:31-33. Ala*! for that day is great, so that none is like it; it is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it. Jeremiah 30:7.
This mighty fact the Withdrawal of the Lord's Spirit from the nations of the Earth is nothing new to the students of Sacred history to the men who have eyes to see and ears to hear, to those whose spiritual senses have been touched and awakened by the Divine Spirit. He withdrew His Spirit at the Deluge viz: ."My Spirit will not always strive with man." Gen. 6:3, 5, 11, 12, 13. He repeated the frightful calamity at Sodom, Gomorrah, and all the Cities of the plain. He withdraw His Spirit from Egypt, under the great leadership of Moses in Egypt and at the Red Sea. He did the same at the destruction of the seven nations of Caanan giants in stature and wicked ness.
He withdrew His Spirit at the fearful and unprecedented siege and destruction of Jerusalem in A. D. 70, as prophesied by Moses, Deuteronomy 28:49-68, and recorded by Josephus, the great Jewish historian fourteen hundred and fifty years later requir ing of that wicked and perverse generation all of the righteous blood shed upon the earth from Abel down to the Crucifixion. There are three great agencies on earth that point to the silent but rapid approach of this colossal event the withdrawal of the Lord's Spirit from the Gentile nations of the earth, leading to the Great Tribulation and world desolation now imminent in human history viz: The Word of the Lord, the Science of the Stars, and that great monument of Prophetic History the Pyra-

mid of Egypt as recorded in Isaiah 19:19-20. These three mighty agencies of spiritual illumination and wisdom all unite in their deep and profound testimony to the world-wide impend ing doom of the present anti-Christian and Pagan Civilization. With one united voice they warn mankind of their mad rush to wards the great whirlpool of universal disaster, to their false and wicked ideals as exemplified in the present financial, social, religious, political, industrial and military powers on earth. Therefore, my fellow countrymen, I warn you with a voice that would wake the dead, if such a thing were possible, that we are living in a Devil-fooled world and in a Devil-fooled age, and that there is no possible way of escape for this money-mad, sin-mad, and pleasure-mad generation from its coming doom. I warn you that the "shaking of the nations" is here the mightiest wor'.dwide upheavals and disasters involving the total overthrow and extinction of the present spiritually dead civilization nothing like it since Noah at the Deluge and Lot in Sodom. The world and the Church are stone-blind to the impending doom, but, nevertheless, in spite of their dense spiritual darkness, we are hurrying on towards the World's Spiritual midnight, the darkest hour in human history, introducing a reign of universal war, conflict, revolution, crime, lawlessness and anarchy never ex perienced in the life of this sin-soaked planet. In fact the revo lutionary fires of the Judgment Day have already been kindled in every nation on earth, while the Red Armies of revolutionary slaughter and destruction are moving upon the world's chess board to usher in and close forever the final conflict between Satan and the Son of God.
"Howl ye! for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt." Isaiah 13:6-7. Verily, all signs point to a mighty crisis, looming up in the history of this benighted and Devil-fooled generation, while colossal changes are imminent and mighty events pending and, if "the righteous scarcely be saved where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?"
Nineteen twenty-five will be, in all human probability, the be ginning of seven years of such widespread disaster, distress, affliction and panicy times in all spheres of life as the human race has never known seven years of terror, tears and blood, with the "Gates of Hell" wide open upon this sin-mad world in the Summer of 1926, with billions of lost spirits possessing the minds and bodies of men leading and driving them on towards the last of this world's battlefields the "Battle of the Great Day?' Armageddon. The fateful year of 1925 will be governed

by the great -war planet "Mars and by "Mercury. The evil aspects of Mars stands for war, revolution, conflict, strife, dissension, fire, explosion, mob-law, violence and bloodshed. Mercury gov erns the mind, the tongue, and the speech. Therefore the minds of all men will be centered upon war, war preparations, revolu tion and conflict. The newspapers will be fil'ed with war talk, reports of crime waves and revolutionary outbreaks, mob-law, anarchy and outbursts of terror and tyrany all over the world. In the Summer of 1926 the Science of the Star* reveals the com ing of the great Second Beast, as recorded in the 13th chapter of Revelation, heralding universal war, conflict and world desola tion the whole earth nl'ed with violence and every man's hand raised against his brother.
Frightful judgments as revealed in the 6th, llth, 13th and 16th chapters of Revelation will be poured out upon those who have been left behind; for remember, oh, man, and never forget that the awful warning of the Lord of a great separation to take place on Earth is imminent viz: "In that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding to gether; the one shall be taken, and the other left." And, "Be hold I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame." Again, "What I say unto you I say unto all Waich!" Mark 13:37.
This most noble, most glorious and most sub'.ime of all doc trines taught within the lids of the Holy Scriptures, the Second Coming of the Lord, is mentioned in every twenty verses of the New Testament, and hundreds of times in the Old Testament; but, nevertheless, it has long since been discarded by the Church, while the monstrous spiritual delusions of Evolution, human progress, human education and human reformation and culture have taken its place, with dense spiritual darkness covering the earth as the waters cover the sea.
This "blessed hope" the only real hope of the Apostles and Prophets and the spiritual men of all ages viz: the coming of the Great Prince of life, the Greatest of the Great, the Teacher of all teachers, the Master of all masters, the Judge of all judges, to overthrow the wild-beast Empires, Kingdoms and Governments of this world in order to set up His own immortal and eternal Kingdom has been made null and void through false teaching for centuries. Witness the wild delusion of the so-called Reformers of today in their benighted efforts to unite Church and State, to

separate the tares from the wheat, in direct violation of the ward

ing of the Lord, involving thousands of foolish and wicked-laws

and man-made inventions to rule over a world of imregene:'ate-

men and women a Devil-fooled world, if you please. .They deny-

the Lord who bought them, reject the simple and sublime teach

ings of His Word, deny to mankind the freedom of thfe human

spirit, the freedom of the conscience and the soverignty of hu

man character a mighty crime against men. For Centurias the

Church has been absorbed by the benighted ambition and desira

to rule this world Satan's Kingdom. . . ,

Soon after the death of the Apostles ths Devil offered the same temptation to the Church that he had offered to1 Christ the King doms and rulerships of this world. The -Lord refused, but the Church yielded to the fearful temptation, uniting with wild-:beast governments and pagan civilizations ever since repudiating .Di vine commandments and Divine examples to keep herself separate from this world.

But, in spite of the colossal mistakes and blunders of the cen turies of the past, in spite of the example of the Lord and the warnings of His Word, we find the Federated Churches of -today possessed by the same spiritual delusion of world domination. They are uniting with the financial, social, judicial, industrial and political powers of this world in order to reform men gone into partnership with a pagan civilization, pagan education, and pagan culture, while "the Devil stands behind the thrones of Kings, Em perors and the chairs of presidents, dictating the policy of cabi nets and Financial Giants filling the world with confusion, com plication, deceit, deception, greed, graft, revolution and war. Hundreds of churches and millions of unregerierate church 'mem bers have evoluted into spiritual rubbish heaps for the propaga tion of man-made laws and human inventions to reform' the hu man race. They are preaching and teaching everything under Heaven but the Gospel of the Grace of -'God "Evolution from below, instead of Regeneration from above- the first birth and not the second." In their world-wide departure from the Holy Scriptures, they have thrown down the bars and opened the flood gates to numerous Hydra-headed religious and political delusions, resorting finally to all sorts of human inventions .to draw the people to spiritually dead world churchcj. Prize fighters, base ball experts and prohibition politicians to ref.orm and enlighten them regarding the virtues of sobriety, regular habits and clean liness, lectures, moving pictures, social clubs, dramatic enter tainments, minstrel shows, eugenics, burlesques, prohibition and dancing. with the world, with the financial, social, industrial, judicial and political kings of this world in order to secure greater po'itical power- and the collection of vast sums of money.
Here we have spiritual adultery in full bloom in apostate Chris tianity a marriage of the church and the world Babylon the Great whose spiritual progreny is going to be rejected and spewed, out by. the Lord; left behind to pass through the mighty tribulation. Many of the church leaders of today, great in the wisdom of this wor'.d, which is foolishness with God, are preach ing and teaching the monstrous spiritual delusion of Evolution that the world is growing better, while the great falling away from the faith once delivered to tha Saints, is rapidly approach ing world proportions yea! there are hundreds of great signs in the heavens, on the earth and in the Holy Scriptures indicating the impending dissolution and extinction of this Devil-fooled civilization that is rotten at the top, center and circumference top-heavy and tilting over with corruption, with moral and spirit ual dissolution, degeneration and decay ready to take its final plunge, like a sinking ship, to the bottom of the great abyss. God Iboks'upon this Devil-fooled world with its vast systems of eeclesiaslieisms, spurious Christianity and paganism as exempli fied, supported and sustained by a benighted aristocracy, by men and women who are wedded to thU world, by the anti-Christian and wild-beast governments of today, as a sinking ship : in mid ocean with its wireless gone, its officers fiTed with confusion, fear and- despair, its life-boats dashed to pieces, its passengsrs panic stricken the mighty wind and waves roaring mountain high, while darkness and despair settle down upon the face of the deep. In it sfinal climax of Apostasy and wickedness, greed, graft, moral arid'spiritual decay, witness the wild, reckless, dare devil, financial schemes of today, prevalent all over the wor.d Bond issues without number in towns, cities, states and nations, with outrageous and confiscatory rates of taxation of the homes, property; business and liberties of the people, in order to paintup, decorate and beautify a lost and sinking world for unregenefate and spiritually dead men and women to live in. "Big Busi ness," obsessed by the "wisdom of tho Serpent," the wisest,
shrewdest, greediest of all the Devil-fooled agencies on earth, in league with a benighted aristocracy and millions of unregenerate church members developing a monstrous Juggernaut System of Life, under which the human race is perishing- today, is busying itself with a mighty problem it will solve viz: the stabilizing of the Franc, the Mark, the Ruble, and the Pound Sterling. Not one of the many artificial props of today is going to support or sus-

fain this crooked and crumbling' civilization, for the o*ay of its dissolution and doom is here written in letters of fire across the heavens the world's Spiritual Midnight, the great nightmare of mankind, culminating in a time of universal war, conflict, tribula tion, chaos, disaster and ruin. "Big Buines" is going down to rise no more. "Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days," says God. while the pent-up storms of Judgment and wrath are moving against it from the heavens and the earth," James, 5th chapter. The money values of all nations is on the toboggan slide, and will soon reach the bottom of the great abyss. The Pound Sterling and the French Franc will be as worthless as the Mark and the Ruble. Money loaned to all foreign govern ments will never return. Stock and Bond issues will not be worth the paper they are written on, while universal repudiation of world financial obligations is in plain view above the horizon. Verily, "the stars in their courses" are fighting against them.
Having commercialized every thing under the skies, the Churc*i included, this Great Babylon, the personification of human de pravity and wickedness, out of which the Lord has called His people, is about to plunge and engulf the whole wor:d into the wildest orgy of universal conflict, human wickedness and world desolation ever witnessed. But, nevertheless, thank God! it is on its way to eternal oblivion yea! it is coming down with the greatest universal crasb ever recorded in Biblical and profane history; for the God of Heaven is preparing to present to mortal eyes a Moving Picture, a Panoramic View, of the the greatest Pyrotechnic Display of Divine Power ever witnessed by men and angels. "He Kmitetk a day," and all signs point to the immi nence of that Day the greatest Day in the history of this sinsoaked, benighted planet. Therefore the rising tide of lawless ness and buman wickedness has already reached world propor tions, strongly indicating the Withdrawal of the Lord's Spirit from the Gentile nations of the earth, the sweeping away of all human barriers, Law and Order league*, and man-made govern ments and laws, ushering in mountainous seas of crime, revolu tion, anarchy, terror, tears and blood, to fall upon those the unregenerated men and women of this age who are left behind to pass through the mighty tribulation coming upon all the world. So if you, dear reader, have been led into the snare of the Devil and Evolution of believing or hoping that the unregenerated Federation of Church members and organized Society, as it is today, the unregenerate League of Pagan nations, military or ganizations, politicians, political parties and so-called statesmen, the unregenerate International Bankers, Big Business, Labor

Union*, Secret Order* and Prohibition politicians can and will untangle the Gordian Knot into which the Devil and Evolution has go iten this world, you are unconsciously permitting Satan, and not the Lord, to do your thinking; for these organizations and many others, are the Tares mentioned by the Lord in Matthem 13:24-30, already bound into Huge Bundles, all over the word, to -be burned in this the Great Day of the Lord now break ing upon all nations. So come out from among them, oh! man of God, and watch for the Salvation of the Lord as Moses did at the Red Sea.
A few signs, among hundreds, heralding the total collapse and extinction of the present pagan civilization. In the meantime, banish from your mind forever that threadbare quotation that "no man knoweth the day or the hour," quoted by spiritually blind ecclesiastics and church leaders, grossly ignorant of the Scriptures, men and women who be-'ong to this world, whose spiritual intelligence is darkened and reversed by the greatest spiritual delusion of the age the Darwinian system of life Evolution, human progress, human education and human culture, which has superseded the Gospel of the Grace of God, superseded the belief in and teaching of the immanence of the greatest and sublimest of all impending events in human and Divine history the Coming of the Mighty Prince of Life to call His people home. Listen to that luminous prophet Nahum, as he looks down the corridors of twenty-seven centuries and be wise. Nahum 2:3-4. "The shield of his mighty men is made Red, the valiant men are in Scarlet" This astounding prophecy is a mighty fact today. The whole world is going Red. Russia. Italy,*Spain, Portugal, France and others are living monuments of this truth, so is every so-called Radical, Communist, Socialist, Labor organ ization, anti-Prohibitionist and countless millions of the restless masses of every nation on earth, in every sphere of life, made so by man's inhumanity to man, by greed, graft, piracy, religious and political despotism, pride, haughtiness, wars, cruelty and countless crimes of so-called diplomacy and world robbery by the spiritually dead ruling classes, sowing dragon's teeth for thous ands of years, who are now face to face with mighty world prob lems they can never solve, together with a fearful reckoning with God, and a mighty harvest of indignation and wrath that must be reaped; for these countless millions of restless beings will shortly, like so many Sampsons of old, put their arms around the rotten pillars supporting this pagan civilization and hurl it down to the bottom of the Great Abyss.
Again: "The chariots shall be with flaming torches in the

day of His preparation. The chariots shall rag-e in the straetsY they shall jostle one against another in the broad ways;, 'they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings." Hun dreds of millions of these chariot* (automobiles) cover the earth today, and as they speed down the causeways and over the high ways of this world, blazing forth from their giant eyes an un earthly light that blinds the eyes of the ignorant but opens the spiritual cense* of the wise, to the mighty fact that the great cay of God's "preparation" is here, and that the Red armi-zs of
Revolutionary strength and world desolation are forming in every nation on earth preparing to precipitate "a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation, and except those days
should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved; but for the Elect's sake those days shall be shortened."

Therefore remember oh! ye unregenerate and spiritually dead1

men and women, of today, that every automobile on earth, and every SO-called "Red," is a herald, a flaming torch, a sure-sign, of the doom of this Devil-fooled civilization, of the immanence Of the Coming of the Great Prince of Life; for God says "the great Day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the Day of the Lord; the mighty man shall cry

there bitterly. That Day is a Day of wrath, a Day of trouble and distress,'a Day of wasteness 'and desolation, a Day of dark ness and gloominess,: a Day of clouds and thick darkness. And I will bring distress upon'men, that they shall walk like blind

men, because they have sinned against the Lord; and their blood

shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dun?. Nsither their Silver nor their Gold shall be able to deliver them in the

Day of the Lord's wrath." Zeph 1:14-8.

"Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the Day that I rise-up: to the prey; for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble th Kingdoms, to pour upon them

mine indignation, even all my fierce anger; for all the earth shall

be devoured with the fire of my jea'ousy."-^Zeph 3:8.

This Gentile 'civilization is on the Rocks today Catholic,

Protestant, Pagan and is going to be smashed into smithereens

as the wrath of God beats upon it from every'angle of the sky; therefore, we have overwhelming evidence of the mighty fact

that the Spirit of God is rapidly leaving all Gentile nations to their coming doom, and turning once more to Old Israel. Listen

oh! benighted men:__"Though I make a full end of all nations

whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of

thee; but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thae

altogether unpunished." Jer. 30:11.

"For, lo, the days come, salth the Lord, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah. saith the Lord; and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it." Jer^ 30:3. "Alas! for that Day is great, so that none is like it; it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it." Jer. 30:7. The Zionist move ment throughout the wor'd 5s a tremendous confirmation of the Divine authorship and fulfillment of these and numerous -prophe cies in the Old and New Testaments, and what a magn-ificent op portunity is presented to the million and billionaire, so-called Christians, of today to join hands' with the Lord in this mighty world movement! Here is an opportunity for lasting fams for names that will endure, that will be young, long after the Pyramid has crumbled into dust! For these people, oh, benighted men, are. the b-athers and sisters of the Lord, the Greatest of the Great the kinsmen of Noah.. Daniel and Job, of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Joseph, Moses,, Joshua, David and Solomon, Elijah, EHsha, Isaiah, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Eeter, James and John, the mighty Apostle Paul, and a host of sublime char acters of. whom this world is not worthy. These are the people who, under the guidance of Almighty Power and Wisdom, so'ved the Religious Problems for all Gentile nations; "for salvation is of the Jews." John 4:22.
Reaching back into the dim and distant cycles of antiquity^ they saw the rise and'fall of ancient Babylon, Egypt, MedoPersia, Greece and Rome; and, in spite of the ferocious persecu tions by Pagan' and fraudulent Christian nations for forty cen turies, these peculiar and wonderful people, to whom the Ch-acle* of God were given, are the direct descendants of the immortal
beacon-lights of Sacred History close to the Heart of God,
bequeathing to Posterity the greatest combination of Spiritual Riches and Spiritual examples ever revealed in human history. Every Bible, every passage of Scripture and every promise and hope of 'a Resurrection of a higher, nobler and granded life be yond the grave, came down from God through the Jewish Race. Therefore, beware, oh, benighted man or nation, how you slander or persecute these people; for the Lord will be a swift witness against you, and is going to "make a full end" of all Gentile na tions whither He has scattered them." Jer. 30:11. Mighty signs on Earth, in the Heavens, and in the Holy Scriptures, herald the rapid approach of this stupendous event! In fact, the mighty intrigues, alliances, and vast preparations for the final conflict now at work on the Continent of Europe, will astound the world in the near future; and blind, indeed, is the

man, or the nation, that cannot sea and wonder at the mighty hand of God in the miraculous preservation of the Jewish race amidst the desolation and wreckage of Gentile empires and king doms for four thousand years! Verily, the GentOe nations can never repay the Jews under the sublime leadership of God for the mighty part they have played in the moral and spiritual destinies of mankind! Listen to the Prophet Daniel looking, through immortal eyes, down the avenues of twenty-five cen-
'uricr? Daniel 12th chanter: "Many shall ran to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." The world is comparable to an immense ant-hill today with hundreds of millions of human be ings "running to and fro" in automobiles, passenger trains, electric cars, steamships and aeroplanes all under high pressure, going at high speed impatient but determined to get there a mighty confirmation of Divine truth and Divine wisdom revsaled in this great prophecy!
"And knowledge shall be increased." A hundred years ago men knew nothing about steamships, railroad trains, electric cars, telegraph, telephones, phonographs, sewing machines, automo biles, typewriters, adding machines, electric and steam power, anesthetics, submarine cables, submarine ships, linotypes, motion pictures, X-rays, wireless telegraphy, aerop'anes, radio and a multitude of other inventions, which, together with millions of printing presses, newspapers, 'periodicals, schools, colleges, uni versities and churches have filled the world with a vast increase in "knowledge," for the last fifty years, that surpasses any five thousand years of human history. These great facts, like a blazing light from Heaven, warn you, oh, benighted men and women of today, of the client, unobserved, but rapid approach of the mighty Prince of Life to hold a fearful reckoning with this money-mad, sin-mad and pleasure-mad generation! Just think! a radio message or photograph around the world in a few mo ments of time. Verily the Lord is near, very near there being only the thinest "smoke screen" so to speak between us and the first stage of His second coming the grandest and sublimest of all events in human history! "Listen: "And at that time shall Michael stand-up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time; and many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting con tempt." Deu. 12.
Dense spiritual darkness covers the man, the nation, or the
Church, that cannot discern "the signs of the.times," that cannot

hear the rumblings of the mighty chariot wheels of the on-coming
Mighty Prince that cannot see the lightning flashes of His v:rath
bursting from the dark clouds of adversity and doom settling
down upon the Gentile nations of today! With the gathering of
the vast and unprecedented armies on land, on the sea and in the
sky, with hundreds of inventions of poisonous gas, TXT bombs, dynamite and other horrible agencies of death and terror, with every nation divided against itself swamped with internal con flicts between Capital and Labor, Democracy and Despotism, Spurious Christianity, Benighted Reformers, and legions of other Devil-fooled agencies filling the world and the hearts of men with hatred, malice and revenge, murder, assassination, moral and spiritual insanity and chaos, the whole earth filled with violence
and "every man's hand raised against his brother;" with thous ands of aeroplanes pelting the armies of the nations with the vilest inventions and combinations of inflamable and suffocating gases destroying who!e armies in a day and reducing the great cities of the world to ashes in a night, with mountainous seas of crime, revolution 'and red-handed anarchy sweeping over the nations, with the courts ceasing to function, "law and order leagues" overwhelmed, governments crumbling into dust, and the Spirit of God, the only constraining influence in the hearts of all men, the only supreme power on earth that has restrained and checked the overflowing wickedness of man, gone from the world. The departure of the Lord's Spirit from the nations of the earth is the greatest of all known calamities. It is imminent today. In all human probability, it left the Gentile nations of Europe in 1914 to their coming doom. They will never recover only a brief respite being granted to complete their final preparations for universal disaster coming from the Air. The Word of the Lord proves it. Listen! "And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the Air." Rev. 16:17-21. Stupendous events are pend ing. The organized church, the church that has long since been converted by the world, with millions of unregenrate mem bers, benighted reformers and spiritually blind leadei-s, are bring ing great pressure to bear upon the unregenrate statesmen and

politicians of the world in order to compel the formation of a "League of Nation*" (pagan nations, mind you) a "World Court" (pagan) and hundreds of so-called Peace Leagues, Law and Or der Leagues, of unregenerate men and women every where.
The so-called "League of Nations" is coming, but "Woe to the World" when it gets here! the greatest combination of hu man wickedness, blasphemy, despotism and world desolation and terror ever known, at the head of which will be found the great Anti-Christ, the super-man, the human personification of Demonism Second Thessolonians 2:3-12; Revelations 13. The build ing of a Peace Palace in Holland, the very recent organization of so-called Peace Societies, and Law and Order Leagues to stem the rising tide of war, lawlessness, anarchy and human wicked ness surging over the nations, is, according to the many passages of the Holy Scriptures, and specifically First Thessalonians 5:3, a sure sign of doom. Listen: "For when they shall say, "Peace and safety," .then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as tra vail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape."
As the dark clouds of evil ascend the horizons of the nations and dense spiritual darkness settles down upon them, we find the Church and the world united in the slogan of "Peace and Safety" this is their cry today; and for this reason and hundreds of others, the writer warns you oh! benighted and unvegenerate men and women of today, to look out for a mighty stroke from the skies, a world-wide THRILL that will awaken the dead, as the Lord, in the first stage of His coming, opens a door in Heaven and calls His people home those who have long since separated themselves from this benighted world, who have "come out of Babylon," who are walking in the Spirit, who are watching, waiting and longing for the coming of His glorious Kingdom. The stupendous failure that unregenere.te men have made in the government of this world from remote antiquity to the present day, is an overwhelming guaranty of the mighty fact that socalled "Law and Order Leagues," "Peace Leagues," and a "League of Nations" (pagan nations) can never establish truth and justice, love and charity upon this earth can never bring an abiding peace to Jew or Gentile, Catholic, Protestant or Pagan, and hence the reason for "the distress of nations with perplexity," the on-coming mighty world Crisis, the departure of the Lord's Spirit and the rising of Earth's restless millions in universal warfare and open rebellion against the powers that be. Rev. 16:15-21.
