- Gainesville, April 6, 1936. People shift through debris in front of the office of The Gainesville News located on Main Street. The destruction was caused by a tornado which struck the city. The tornado caused the death of over 100 people, hundreds were injured, and the property damage was in the millions. The business of N.C. White, a photographer, seen at the right.
