- Gainesville, June 11, 1931. Black musicians play while a young black boy dances on a platform in City Park located along North Green Street. Members of the National Editorial Association were meeting in Gainesville. This group was composed of editors and publishers of small town newspapers. Today it is known as the National Newspaper Association. A cabin has been built in the park so that blacks might perform for those attending this meeting.
