- Greene County, ca. 1936. Ruins of the Curtwright Manufacturing Company located on the Oconee River at Long Shoals. This company produced cotton products. Dr. Curtwright, the owner, operated a fleet of wagons that carried his goods to Greensboro and returned with supplies needed at the factory. He instructed his drivers to pick up and deliver mail to the people who lived on the route. It is reported printed material produced at the factory won first place at a show in New York prior to the Civil War.
