- Description:
- Greene County, 1963. Home built by James Edrington Park in 1821 was used at times as a tavern and an inn. Jefferson Davis was said to have slept there May 5, 1865. The members of the park family built gristmills, a bridge over the Oconee River, stores, saloons, and a blacksmith shop in this general area. James B. Park, Senior owned the home for many years. The house has now been moved to Morgan County because this area of Greene County was to come under water as a result of a lake created by Wallace Dam. The dam was built on the Oconee River in 1972.
