- Gordon County, 1903. Home of James Monroe Harlan was built in 1869. It was called "Forest Home" and is located east of Calhoun on Ga. Highway 225. Mr. Harlan (seated) is seen in front of the home with members of the family. Mr. Harlan (1827-1905) served Gordon County as a Judge of the Interior Court and was a member of the Board of County Commissioners. In addition to his plantation, he maintained a mercantile establishment. The A. R. McDaniel family occupies his home now.
