- Description:
- North of Calhoun, 1930. View of a statue of a World War I soldier which makes up part of an arch built of native rock. The arch was constructed to honor the memory of Civil War and World War I soldiers. W. Laurens Hillhouse built the arch for the Calhoun Woman's Club ca. 1925. It is located in a small park at the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and Ga. Highway 225. A statue of the Indian, Sequoyah, was placed on a pedestal of stone, too. It is located just behind the arch.
