- St. Simons Island, ca. 1939-1940. Spectators watch as smoke billows forth from buildings in the King and Prince Hotel complex. People tried to salvage what they could before the fire reached them.
The King and Prince hotel complex started in 1935 as a dance club and opened as a hotel on July 2, 1941. It served as a naval facility during World War II and reopened as a resort in 1947. It still exists today as a popular resort area and is now called King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort. - External Identifiers:
