- Description:
- Moultrie, late 1920s-1930s. The "Talking Bull" played music and talked about Colquitt County while riding in many parades mounted on a trailer. It was about 15 feet high and of corresponding circumference and was originally mounted on an automobile for a big celebration in Quitman during the latter part of May 1915. W. E. Aycock was the creator of the "Talking Bull." Aycock was a civic-minded promoter of the county who was also known for creating the "Talking Watermelon" with his son, Richard. (see clq174.) Both the bull and the watermelon were built as creative publicity stunts to advertise two of Moultrie's best products, beef and watermelon.
