- Colquitt County, ca. 1940s. Men shown extracting juice from raw cane using an old-fashioned cane mill. After obtaining the juice, it is boiled on the premises to extract the sugar. This process is called cane grinding and used to be a famous social affair where people turned out at night for a big party under lantern light. Cane grinding was a yearly event on the farms of South Georgia.
