Marcellus Stanley (1823-1890) married Julia Pope (1825-1894) and lived in
Athens, Georgia. During the Civil War, Stanley was the first Captain of the Troop Artillery and later a Major. Benjamin Henry Pope (1830-1898) was Julia's brother.
